Could it… actually, maybe, possibly be… coming… home?
If you’ve been watching Football Trending, (if not, why not? Watch it), you’ll notice that my response to the question ‘is it coming home?’ changes more than the weather.
After the Scotland draw, I said no chance. After the win against Czech Republic, I said maybe. Now that we’ve beaten Germany, 2-0, in a knockout tie… Well, It’s almost impossible not to say yes, it is in fact coming home.
Sure, there’s still three games to play, the last of which will likely be against either the highest scoring team in the tournament, the highest ranked team in the world, or a team so terrifyingly slick and efficient you’d think they were a club side.
But if you’re not getting that feeling now, that little buzz telling you that this is the best chance we’ll ever have, that urge to pay through the nose for a final ticket, if Three Lions isn’t ringing through your head constantly, what more will it take?
