Flat Earthers once again the butt of the joke after SpaceX launch proves Earth is round

Claudia McInerney

This comes after SpaceX shared live footage of Earth in a recent mission

History was made on Sunday as NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken headed towards the International Space Station (ISS) in a Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon crew capsule.

Whilst millions of people watched the moment when SpaceX launch astronauts into space, Flat Earthers unsurprisingly became the butt of the joke on social media once again.

The launch marks the first time in around 10 years that humans have gone into orbit from US soil. It is also the first time that NASA has sent astronauts into space in a commercial spacecraft which is privately owned.

The live footage from the much-anticipated launch has once again proven that the Earth is not ‘flat’ but instead is spherical. Naturally, this is not a ground-breaking discovery for the majority of individuals walking on the planet, but it simply reinforces long established truths about Earth.

It also disproves the theory that the Earth is flat.

People have taken to Twitter to mock Flat Earthers following the live launch.

Another Twitter user wrote: “The only thing Flat-Earthers fear… Is sphere itself.”

Another wrote: “I need a reality show where flat earthers try to find the edge.”

As the NASA astronauts reached orbit, Doug Hurley said via radio: “Thank you for the first human ride for Falcon 9. It was incredible… appreciate all the hard work and thanks for the great ride to space.”
