Much to the disgust of every single Englishman, Jamie Vardy had been frozen out of England’s Euro 2016 opener against Russia. With Gareth Bale’s long range free-kick giving Wales a half-time lead in Lens, England fans were once again calling for the Leicester man to be added to the mix.
This time, the England manager buckled under the pressure and listened to a group of football supporters that clearly know a great deal more than he does about his squad.
As if any proof was ever needed that football fans know more than the individuals paid large amounts of money to pick the sides, this was it.
