Having established himself as a key part of the club’s youth set up, David Beckham made his Manchester United debut on September 23, 1992.
It was far from a glamorous affair – a 1-1 draw at Brighton and Hove Albion in the League Cup – but was nevertheless the first appearance in Beckham’s famous career.
Beckham signed as a professional soon after and made his first start for the club in another League Cup fixture a couple of years later. His first goal for Manchester United came in a Champions League game against Galatasaray.
A loan spell at Preston North End followed, before Beckham returned to establish himself as a key player at his boyhood club. Despite his 2003 move to Real Madrid, United still haven’t forgotten their former number seven’s role in one of the most successful spells in the club’s history.
