The Welsh midfielder was expected to leave Arsenal in the summer
Aaron Ramsey will leave Arsenal in 2019. That much we already knew.
The midfielder, who has been with the club since joining from Cardiff City 11 years ago, has been expected to leave since Arsenal withdrew the offer of a contract extension a few months ago.
Several of Europe’s top clubs have been linked with moves for the 28-year-old, with recent reports suggesting Juventus have won the race for him – the Italian giants set to make him one of Serie A’s highest earners.
Though Ramsey’s move to Turin now seems almost certain after he completed a medical, it had previously been assumed this would only take place in the summer. Now, it’s emerged it could happen this week.
According to the Independent’s Miguel Delaney, the midfielder could complete his move to Juve before the close of the January transfer window, which closes on the 31st.
Arsenal are said to be targeting loan signings to bolster their ranks this season, and might allow Ramsey to move to Italy this week if they can complete temporary deals for Barcelona’s Denis Suarez and James Rodriguez, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich from Real Madrid.
A move for Suarez is currently being held up as Arsenal and Barca try to agree a loan fee. The James deal is said to be more complicated, but both parent club Real and Bayern are open to him making the move.
Should deals for both players be done, it’s expected Ramsey will leave The Emirates for a fee of around £10m.
