Manchester United supporters have been vocal enough when it comes to criticising their team’s style of play in recent weeks, and it seems they’re not alone.
After Adidas signed a £750m deal to replace Nike as United’s kit suppliers, it seems that Louis van Gaal’s style of football has also failed to impress the German sportswear company’s chief executive.
Herbert Hainer stressed that, although he’s pleased by the number of shirts that have been sold, he’s not particularly a fan of the club’s current playing style.
“Business with Man United is going very well, we sell more shirts than expected,” he is quoted as saying in German newspaper, Suddeutsche Zeitung. “We are satisfied … even if the current playing style of Man United is not exactly what we want to see.”
Having narrowly beaten Swansea at the weekend, Van Gaal will hope his United side can put together a string of good results. They sit in fifth at present, and his position as manager remains in danger with the club also exiting the Champions League at the group stage.
