The Argentine announced his retirement in December
Sergio Aguero has opened the door to a possible return to football, just three months after he announced his retirement from the game.
The Argentine was forced to retire towards the end of last year due to ongoing heart problems, which were detected after he was substituted with chest pains in his last Barcelona match on October 30 against Alaves.
Why was the forward forced to retire?
After undergoing cardiological tests, the club confirmed the cause was a heart arrhythmia.
The 33-year-old – who is Manchester City’s all-time leading scorer and won five Premier League crowns during his time at the Etihad – joined Barcelona last summer, but struggled with health and injury troubles and announced his retirement from football in December.
However, Aguero has now hinted at a a potential return to professional football in a new interview this week.

Speaking to TYC Sports this week, Aguero said: “Yesterday, it crossed my mind that I could play again. Inter Miami called me but I refused. In two years? Let’s see,” as translated by All About Argentina.
“The doctors told me that I have to spend five or six months without activity, but I already want to train again!”
Could Aguero make a return to professional football?
It remains to be seen whether Aguero’s latest comments are more in hope than expectation, however, he certainly wouldn’t be the first Premier League legend to make a a sensational return from retirement.
Aguero scored 260 goals in 390 games for Man City, and also made 101 appearances for Argentina – registering 41 goals and 19 assists.
