It is reported that the legendary Manchester United manager gave a rousing speech during his visit to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad
Alex Ferguson visited interim Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team over the festive period at the former striker’s invitation, with it now revealed what he said during his trip.
While there, it is reported that the 77-year-old Scot delivered a speech to the team – who have won their first five games under their new coach – telling them: “You can make this club great again.”
His visit came on Saturday 29 December ahead of the side’s Premier League 2-1 win over Bournemouth when Rashford netted an injury-time winner.
Elaborating on Ferguson’s visit, a Sun source close to the club said: “He told the lads that this group will make United dominant and successful again.
“He said that he believes in them and he wants them to enjoy themselves and to fight hard for each other and leave everything on the pitch.
“He also told them that the club is in good hands and he promised them that it will become bigger and better in the years to come and they will be part of this success.”
Solskjaer was given the job until the end of the season following the sacking of José Mourinho in December, finding immediate success with a team that had struggled outside the top four since the start of the season.
The former striker played 235 games for Manchester United under Ferguson between 1996 and 2007, scoring 91 goals. He won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League while at Old Trafford.
