Zverev has now been kicked out of the tournament
Alexander Zverev well and truly lost his cool during a Mexican Open doubles match on Tuesday night as he repeatedly hit out at the umpire’s chair with his tennis racquet.
Zverev was also heard calling the umpire a “f***ing idiot” multiple times after he and his partner Michael Melo were beaten by Lloyd Glasspool and Harri Haliovaara despite being favourites to win the first round match up.
After losing the first set 6-2, Zverev and Melo fought back to win the second set 6-4, leaving an all-deciding third and final set, but lost the set 10-6 and crashed out at the first stage.
Incensed by the loss, the German saw red as he began to attack the umpire’s chair in a fit of rage, hitting the chair twice with his racquet before sitting down.
He wasn’t sat down for long though as the 24-year-old then stood up again and began to kick the chair before he was eventually led away from the arena.
Zverev was also heard shouting a range of expletives at the umpire such as “you f***ing destroyed the whole f***ngg match. The whole f***ngg match.”

Following on from the outburst, the tournament later confirmed that Zverev had been disqualified from the singles draw in an official statement.
The statement read: “Due to unsportsmanlike conduct at the conclusion of his doubles match on Tuesday night, Alexander Zverev has been withdrawn from the tournament in Acapulco.”
