Sanchez has recently returned from injury
Alexis Sanchez was not amongst the Manchester United squad that travelled to London together ahead of their game against Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.
A resurgent United have won all five games since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced Jose Mourinho last month. The game against Spurs, however, is expected to be their toughest test since their change in manager.
Sanchez returned to the United team for the win at Newcastle the day after New Year’s Day having spent just over a month out of the team as he recovered from a hamstring injury. Having also played in the FA Cup win against Reading last weekend, some would have expected him to be involved in Sunday’s game having scored the winner the last time United played Spurs at Wembley.
The Manchester Evening News report that the Chilean was not amongst the United players aboard the train down to London on Saturday, with Chris Smalling, Marcos Rojo, Antonio Valencia, Matteo Darmian and Marouane Fellaini also absent. Eric Bailly will also miss the game following the suspension he got for the straight red card he received in the recent win against Bournemouth.
Paul Pogba, who had been an injury concern after being on the wrong end of a Jonjo Shelvey challenge in the win at Newcastle, did make the journey with the rest of his team.
United currently sit sixth in the Premier League, though can close the gap on fifth place Arsenal following their defeat to West Ham on Saturday.
