Alexis Sanchez deletes tweet after location sends Arsenal fans into panic mode

Just a coincidence?

Paris Saint-Germain are one of several clubs which have been linked with a move for Alexis Sanchez throughout the summer.

But the fact that Sanchez spent his Sunday in the French capital is just a coincidence, right?

That’s the hope that Arsenal fans are clinging to after their star player forgot that any tweets from his Twitter account would appear with the location from which they were sent.

On Sunday afternoon, Sanchez sent a tweet to Right Here Waiting singer Richard Marx which is a completely normal thing for a professional footballer to do but Arsenal supporters began freaking after seeing the location.

As the Chile international’s mentions piled up, Sanchez was quickly made very aware that he had mistakenly revealed that he was in Paris and he deleted the tweet.

He reposted it moments later, with his location settings switched to off but with the internet being the internet, it was screenshot dozens of times.

Certain outlets have reported that the 28-year-old is in Paris for talks with PSG representatives while others have simply suggested that Sanchez is just enjoying a relaxing break with his girlfriend.

But Arsenal fans had the expected reaction upon finding out where their talisman was spending his weekend.

Former Arsenal player Paul Merson has suggested that Arsene Wenger would be willing to let Sanchez move to PSG because that would make it much less likely for the forward to come back to haunt the Gunners than if he moved to Premier League rivals, Manchester City.

“Arsenal would let Sanchez go to PSG tomorrow,” Merson told Sky Sports. “The biggest worry is Manchester City and that’s the problem.

“If he went to City there would be uproar from the Arsenal fans. They would look at it and ask why the club are selling him to a Premier League rival.

“If he goes to PSG he’s out of sight, out of mind. He’s not going to come back and hurt you.”
