A few money-spinning preseason friendlies in far-flung destinations aside, there’s not much in the way of football over the next couple of weeks.
To plug the gap, far too many football fans are wasting spending their time by getting ridiculously excited about transfers that might (but probably won’t) happen.
One transfer move that does appear to be on the brink of happening is Alvaro Morata to Manchester United. With Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s fucked knee forcing Jose Mourinho to look elsewhere for a new number nine, it’s expected that a deal for the Real Madrid man is all but done.
Of course, this isn’t the first time United have been linked for a move for a Real Madrid player. In actual fact, it happens every single summer. If it’s not some far-fetched story about Cristiano Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford, it’s James Rodriguez or Raphael Varane who are Manchester bound.
And of course, there’s always the Gareth Bale rumour, too.
The Welshman was again linked with United in the days leading up to winning his third Champions League title back in his hometown, but such reports have died off again in the time since.
Now though, thanks to Morata himself, some are starting to believe it might actually be on again even though it’s definitely not.
It stems from this Instagram post, which claims that Morata has told Bale to join him in swapping the Bernabeu for Old Trafford.
According to another image doing the rounds, Morata is one of those to have liked the post which, according to some, is a hint that Bale could be following him to Manchester.
If we were you, United fans, we wouldn’t be getting ‘Bale’ printed on your new shirt just yet.
