Ander Herrera is ‘disillusioned’ with life under Louis van Gaal, according to reports

Kevin Beirne

Ander Herrera feels his career has stalled under Louis van Gaal, and has sought showdown talks with the Manchester United manager.

According to The Star, the Basque midfielder is unhappy with his lack of game time having made just six league starts this season and is seeking assurances that he will see the field more regularly.

The Spanish international has one eye on Euro 2016, and believes his place in the Spain squad would be in serious doubt if he is not playing regularly for his club.

Herrera has made 35 league appearances since joining Man United in the summer of 2014 for £29m from Bilbao’s Athletic Club, scoring eight goals in that time.

With Louis van Gaal’s side seemingly lacking a creative spark, fans have been calling for the Spaniard’s inclusion – and it seems that Herrera may be willing the force the issue himself ahead of the January transfer window.
