Robertson’s 91st minute foul was a costly one
Andy Robertson will miss the first leg of Liverpool’s Champions League quarter-final after picking up a late booking against Bayern Munich.
After a goalless draw with the German champions at Anfield last month, Liverpool won 3-1 in Bavaria on Wednesday. Having taken a first-half lead through Sadio Mane, a Joel Matip own goal levelled the score before half-time, only for Virgil van Dijk and another from Mane to secure a famous victory for Jurgen Klopp’s men.
With the game as good as won, Robertson was shown a yellow card in stoppage time after bringing down Leon Goretzka.
Celebrations all around for Liverpool…

This was the Scotsman’s third yellow card of the tournament, meaning he will now serve a suspension. Had he made it through the remaining minutes of stoppage time, his disciplinary record would have been wiped before the next Champions League game.
This was, however, a small setback at the end of a glorious night for Liverpool, who join the three other English clubs that qualified for the tournament at the end of last season in the last eight.
The draw for the quarter-finals and semi-finals will be made on Friday morning, with Porto, Ajax, Barcelona and Juventus also in the last eight.
