Angel Di Maria pens open letter to angry Man United fans…

JOE

Angel Di Maria has penned an open letter to Manchester United fans following his move to Paris Saint-Germain.

In the farewell note, the Argentine thanks the United faithful for their support during his solitary year at Old Trafford. He talks about how honoured he was to join the club and how sorry he is that things didn’t quite work out as planned.

Interestingly, the general sentiment amongst many United fans that he simply stopped trying for the club seems to have filtered through to the star. He explains that this simply wasn’t the case, and that football is ‘not like maths’.

‘I can guarantee you it was not for trying,’ writes Di Maria. ‘I did my best but football is not like maths: often a lot of things out of our control affect the way we feel and the way things turn out.’

He thanks both the staff and supporters, and signs off by saying ‘the Glorious Manchester United Club [sic] will be forever in my memory!’
