Joshua now follow just 25 accounts – most of which are sponsors
Anthony Joshua has unfollowed just about everyone on social media, including his own long-time promoter and friend, Eddie Hearn.
The rationale behind AJ’s online cull remains unclear, with the 32-year-old boxer having been less vocal since his defeat to Oleksandr Usyk back in September, though the most likely reason is just pure focus ahead of the proposed rematch.
Speaking to iFL TV after George Kambosos Jr’s win over Teófimo López this past weekend, Hearn was asked “what’s happened?” regarding the situation, to which he chuckled and said, “nothing”.
The 42-year-old Matchroom chairman said “I think he’s unfollowed everybody but his sponsors, hasn’t he?”, before adding, “don’t worry, we still talk every day.”
So, while many may have wondered if there is trouble in paradise, the decision appears to be less of a snub and more about a sportsman looking to reduce the number of distractions in his life at the moment and focus on his craft. Fair play.
The last we heard from Joshua’s camp was actually from Hearn himself, who said that AJ is “obsessed” with winning the rematch against Usyk, though no official date has been confirmed.
Hearn also spoke out about the press conference for the Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul fight, calling it “disgusting” and “tasteless”. We spoke to the 22-year-old boxer and his father John Fury about the upcoming bout. As for AJ vs Tyson, we’ll still have to wait and see.
