Anthony Martial should know better than to tease football fans like this.
Manchester United fans were still enjoying collecting all three points at Anfield earlier on Sunday when Martial gave them even more reason for optimism.
In classic wind-up merchant fashion, the Frenchman posted a celebratory snap on Instagram, alongside the promise of a ‘surprise’ to come for his followers.

While the BBC might have you believe the 20-year-old’s surprises are something to avoid but that didn’t stop Twitter from getting a bit carried away about it.
United fans were hoping for some news on the transfer front…

Or even a new contract would do…
This surprise. Please let it be a 10-year contract extension for Martial.

The signing wouldn’t necessarily have to be a player…

Then there were those who were aiming a little lower…
Anthony Martial has posted "a surprise will come very soon…"
Starting blogs like Juan maybe?
"Hugs, Anthony" 😄

Some wondered if it could be a clever marketing tie-in…
Martial says a surprise is coming. Hmm … must be an alternate ending to The Revenant movie.

But there’s always one party-pooper ready to spoil the fun…
The surprise Martial is referring to is either a signed shirt competition or an announcement of a second child. Blown out of proportion.
