Because one ridiculously expensive French international is never enough, Manchester United are said to be plotting a big money move for Antoine Griezmann in the summer.
The Mirror go as far as saying that Ed Woodward has held talks with Atletico Madrid over a move for the forward, having already indicated that they intend to make a move for him in summer.
The report also adds that Griezmann’s arrival could spell the end of Wayne Rooney’s time at Old Trafford. The United captain has lost his place in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI in recent weeks and it’s thought that a move for the Frenchman will be timed to coincide with his departure, with the US and China said to be possible destinations.
Griezmann, who is good friends with United’s summer arrival Paul Pogba, has a deal to remain in the Spanish until 2021. However, having ditched his agent earlier in the year, it’s reported that Atletico are now aware that this could well be his final season with the club.
Griezmann, 25, finished Euro 2016 with six goals in the summer and was recently received a player of the tournament award before France’s match with Bulgaria.
It remains to be seen whether this is anything more than some good old Sunday morning tabloid transfer talk.
