Griezmann has an unusual love for Uruguay
Antoine Griezmann is a unique character. Some of his behaviour could be considered… unusual. From posting teaser videos about where his future lies to draping himself in a Uruguay flag after winning the World Cup, the Frenchman has a record of making some strange decisions.
His decision to parade around the Luzhniki Stadium in a Uruguay flag raised some eyebrows, and there is an explanation, but that doesn’t make it any less weird.
His admiration for the South American nation stems his experiences earning from Diego GodÃn at Atlético Madrid.
After he refused to celebrate his goal against Uruguay in the World Cup, Griezmann explained:Â “I didn’t celebrate because when I started as a professional I was supported by a Uruguayan who taught me the good and the bad in football and I have a lot of respect for Uruguay.”
Tonight, for France’s friendly against La Celeste, Griezmann will wear a pair of boots, with one boot decorated with a Uruguay flag, the other with a French flag, as he revealed on Twitter.

France will take on the side they beat in the World Cup quarter-finals at the Stade de France, having just missed out on a place in the UEFA Nations League finals.
A late goal from Virgil Van Dijk against Germany last night ensured that the Netherlands topped Group A1 ahead of the World Champions, against all expectations.
