Antoine Griezmann, for now at least, is an Atletico Madrid player.
The French international appeared near certain to be off to Manchester United at one stage last summer, only to change his mind when the Spanish club were hit with a transfer ban.
Despite this, many United supporters are yet to give up hope that Griezmann will one day end up plying his trade at Old Trafford. Some have predicted he will end up making the move in summer; others believe it may even be possible as soon as the January transfer window.
Seemingly, one man who’d like to see him make the move is the player’s brother, Theo, who has made it known over recent years that he’s a big United supporter. At this point, we should point out that young Theo knows a thing or two about dropping the odd cryptic hint about his brother potentially making a move to Manchester. With this in mind, you can understand why many a United fan might take his latest (and quite possibly last) tweet with a generous pinch of salt.
The tweet, which was sent on Saturday afternoon, featured a picture of Old Trafford and three praying emojis. Many interpreted this as being a not-so-subtle hint that Theo was again hoping that his brother would be playing his football there in the very near future.
Shortly after, Theo’s Twitter account was gone, seemingly deleted.
Despite this, a screenshot of the tweet was made available by the website 101 Great Goals.Â
While this may be enough to excite some United supporters, it should be pointed out that the fact the image of Old Trafford features a poppy on it may be significant. Sent on Armistice Day, this could simply have been his way of acknowledging the occasion.
