Antonio Conte not worried about “warrior” John Terry after he leaves Swansea on crutches

"He is a warrior so I'm not worried.”

Chelsea fans are sweating on the fitness of their captain John Terry after he left Swansea’s stadium on crutches on Sunday.

The Blues defender played the full 90 minutes as Chelsea drew 2-2 with the Swans, but there was concern when he was seen hobbling late in the game and went down with what appeared to be an ankle problem at the final whistle.

He was later spotted leaving Swansea’s Liberty Stadium on crutches – prompting fears the Chelsea skipper could miss Friday’s big match with Liverpool.

Blues boss Antonio Conte revealed the extent of his captain’s injury would be explored on Monday – but insisted he was not overly worried.

“I don’t know the extent of John’s injury. We’ll find out tomorrow about his ankle,” he said after the game. “He is a warrior so I’m not worried.”

In the match itself Diego Costa fired Chelsea ahead with 18 minutes played, but Terry could not prevent Gylfi Sigurdsson equalising from the penalty spot – nor Leroy Fer handing Swansea the lead after he appeared to foul Terry’s defensive partner Gary Cahill.

Diego Costa ensured it was not a pointless trip for the Blues though – scoring a second on 81 minutes to seal the draw.

Despite all the action from the players, it was referee Andre Marriner who was the big talking point after the game, with Twitter ablaze with furious fans from both sides…
