Miguel Almiron is a player in demand
The Paraguayan forward is the heartbeat of an Atlanta United side which currently tops Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference ahead of New York Red Bulls and since his move to the relatively new MLS side in 2016, he has been one of the most exciting players in the league.
While rarely prolific earlier in his career – he only score three goals in his solitary season with Lanus – Miguel Almiron has 12 goals for the Georgia side in 31 league games this season.
His form since joining two years ago has seen him lauded with a number of accolades, such as numerous team of the week appearances, being named top of the league’s 24 under 24 list and landing a place in the MLS Best XI after his debut season, but it has also attracted attention from big clubs overseas.
Arsenal have reportedly flown out to watch him a number of times, and Atlanta United president Darren Eales has now confirmed that Almiron will almost certainly move to England in the January transfer window.
“Almiron’s future is already decided and he will go to England in the European winter market,” Eales told FOX Deportes USA.
The quotes from Eales have been dispute by some, such as US journalists Jonathan Tannenwald and Doug Robertson, who have described it as “fake news”.

However, Paraguayan journalist Bruno Pont has since tweeted quotes purporting to be from Almiron’s father, Ruben, who has reportedly said that Arsenal’s interest in his son is real.
