Yes it was only a friendly, but the signs were good for Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger’s men put Viking FK to the sword in Norway an 8-0 pasting in their penultimate pre-season game.
Goals flooded in after a shaky start, with Joel Campbell, Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott finding back of the net.
Alex Iwobi then scored two and then Chuba Akpom finished off the rout in the final minute.
That is three wins from four pre-season games with Arsenal set to meet Man City before the Premier League season kicks off in earnest.

With Spurs fans celebrating their own pre-season goal fest after a 6-1 hammering of Inter Milan, you’d have thought that seeing the Gunners hit weight (albeit it against slightly lesser opposition) would have at least heartened the Arsenal faithful.
Were Arsenal fans satisfied? Were they heck.
The club’s official Twitter account triumphantly posted the match report with a David Brent-esque ‘Just the 8 goals…’ tweet.
Just the 8️⃣️ goals for us tonight…

Then obviously attentions turned to the fact that they’ve still not splashed the cash and signed a high profile striker…

Then the thought started crossing people’s minds. What if this 8-0 win meant Wenger thought he didn’t actually need more firepower?
