Arsenal and awards go hand in hand.
Thierry Henry was named as the Premier League’s Player of the Year in 2004 and 2006. Jack Wilshere was the PFA’s Young Player of the Year in 2011. And Stan Kroenke has been nominated for the prestigious Sports Executive of the Year gong in his native United States.
Now, Kroenke is not the most popular among certain sections of the Arsenal support. Or, indeed, the St Louis Rams support on the other side of the Atlantic.
So perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised by the bemused reaction his nomination has received on these shores.
