Arsenal look to poach the man behind Leicester’s success

Tom Victor

If someone had told you that Leicester City would be joint-top of the Premier League in mid-January, you’d have laughed in their face.

But thanks to some astute signings – coupled with Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy hitting new heights – the Foxes are only behind leaders Arsenal on goal difference.

Arsenal want to unlock the key to their success, and think they can do so by cutting right to the core – poaching head of technical scouting Ben Wrigglesworth.

during the Barclays Premier League match between Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur at The King Power Stadium on August 22, 2015 in Leicester, England.

Wrigglesworth brought Mahrez and summer arrival N’Golo Kanté to the King Power Stadium, and the Daily Telegraph report that he is currently on gardening leave ahead of a move to North London.

The paper claims that the Gunners have been put off making an approach for Leicester’s head of recruitment Steve Walsh due to a seven-figure release clause.

The arrival of Wrigglesworth could see Arsenal move for more cut-price transfer targets, after spending big on the likes of Alexis Sánchez and Mesut Özil in recent windows.
