There’s no doubt Alexis Sanchez has been one of Arsenal’s most important players, if not the most important, since joining from Barcelona.
But Real Madrid are reported to be plotting a shock move to take the Chilean back to La Liga.
According to Spanish publication Don Balon, the giants are willing to offer Arsenal €50m (£37.2m) plus Russian winger Denis Cheryshev in an effort to snare the Gunners’ prized asset.
Arsenal are thought to have already turned down an initial approach from Rafa Benitez’s club, but La Liga’s top scorers could return with a higher offer in January.
With rivals Barcelona poised to welcome in new signing Arda Turan at the turn of the year, Madrid may be similarly keen to add to their attacking options.
As for whether Arsenal would be happy to part with their prized asset for any price? That’s a different question altogether.
