“It just shocked me how little they have. They don’t take anything for granted.”
The Arsenal Foundation and Save The Children have teamed up to provide football coaching sessions to underprivileged girls in Jakarta, Indonesia. JOE went to Arsenal’s training ground at London Colney to chat with England international Leah Williamson about the project and what she learned from her visit to Jakarta.
Williamson explained that many of the participants have been forced into child labour in order to provide for their families. Having an hour of football, when “it’s all about them for a bit,” can have a huge impact on these young girls.
