Reports: Arsenal to swoop for PSG duo as Wenger boards a plane to Paris

Kevin Beirne

Arsenal fans have called on Arsene Wenger to strengthen his team following a lacklustre start to the season.

Well, it seems as if they may get their wish, as Wenger has reportedly been seen boarding a plane to Paris as he tries to push ahead with a double swoop for PSG stars Edinson Cavani and Adrien Rabiot.

After failing to sign Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, Wenger has apparently turned his attentions back to Uruguay striker Cavani – a player who has scored 36 goals in 59 games for PSG since signing from Napoli for £55m two years ago.

Meanwhile, Wenger has been tracking Rabiot’s progress for some time now. At one point last summer it seemed as if the midfielder would be joining the Gunners, only for the move to fall through. The 20-year-old would be brought in to replace the ageing Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini.

But there is a third player that Wenger might be in Paris to see. While PSG have not given any indication that they would be willing to let Cavani leave, they have hinted at allowing Zlatan Ibrahimovic go.

Could Wenger be ready to shock the Premier League once more with another big-name signing?
