Despite the goalscoring efforts of Olivier Giroud this season, Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for a new striker.

With usual suspects Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain unlikely to move in the January window, Arsene Wenger is reportedly looking closer to home for a new forward.

Watford’s Troy Deeney is claimed to be on the Arsenal boss’s list as he looks to seal the club’s first title in 12 years, report The Daily Star.

Wenger is said to be aware that Watford will be unlikely to sell their captain, who has scored six goals in his last 11 appearances, but could try and tempt them by making an offer.

Arsenal are also on the brink of signing Basel midfielder, Mohamed Elneny. The 23-year-old is said to be due to seal his switch on Tuesday in a deal worth £7m.
