Wenger is loving life post Arsenal

Admit it, you wouldn’t mind looking like Arsene Wenger when you’re 72-years-old. He has certainly enjoyed the freedom of not having to manage Arsenal, that’s for sure.

The former Gunners boss went viral on Tuesday after a 2019 picture of his ripped physique emerged on social media – and the Frenchman, by several people’s own admission, has put a lot of people to ‘shame’.

Wenger, who left Arsenal in 2018 after 22 years at the helm, won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups during his time in charge, and consistently delivered top-four finishes.

While the Frenchman has been linked with a number of jobs around the globe, he has not yet returned to management. Instead, he is a pundit for Qatar-based beIN Sports and works as the Chief of Global Football Development at FIFA.

Wenger looking in fine shape

Despite his hectic work schedule, it also appeared that the 72-year-old enjoys working out, with a photo of the ex-Arsenal boss posing in 2019 showing his impressive physique.

Wenger was reportedly relaxing on a beach in Dubai amid rumours he was set to be appointed as the new Bayern Munich manager in the wake of Niko Kovac’s sacking.

Although he was never appointed, and remains to be seen if he was even a legitimate contender for the role, he was completely relaxed and stopped to pose for a photo with fans – with his toned abs on show.

How did social media react to the photo?

While it is unclear if the legendary manager still has his ripped abs, the remerged picture sent fans into a frenzy – even three years later.

One Twitter user wrote: “I want the flat stomach”.

Champions League duty

Wenger is likely to be in the studio for this week’s Champions League clashes, with Chelsea facing an uphill battle to overturn their 3-1 aggregate deficit to Real Madrid on Tuesday, while Villarreal will be hoping to maintain their surprise one-goal advantage over Bayern Munich.

The former Arsenal boss was one of the analysts for Liverpool’s first-leg triumph over Benfica last week, with the Reds welcoming the Portuguese outfit to Anfield on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola’s side are also in action on Wednesday as they travel to Atletico Madrid with a 1-0 aggregate lead.
