Villa mean business

Aston Villa are close to reaching an agreement for Everton star Amadou Onana as reported by David Ornstein.

The two clubs are finalising the deal which is suggested to be worth around £50m.

The 22-year-old Belgian midfielder is one of Aston Villa manager Unai Emery’s key targets ahead of Villa’s entry into Champions League football next season.

Onana is said to be enthusiastic about the prospect of playing for the Spanish manager.

In a similar stance to Jarrod Branthwaite and his proposed to Manchester United, Ornstein reported that Everton have been holding out for £60-70m based on recent spend on similar calibre midfielders in recent years.

However, as suggested, The Toffees may have to take a slight cut on this price to move on the midfielder.

Everton were deducted points last season on the back of Financial Fair play regulations due to overspending and therefore are keen to recoup money to balance the books.

Onana has been an important player for Everton, making 72 appearance after signing from Lille in 2022 for £30m.

The French side will get 20 per cent of the profit made on the sale of Onana.

The Belgian midfielder has attracted plenty of attention from plenty of big clubs in Europe, making his anticipated move to Villa a big shocks and huge coup for The Villans.

Onana has been linked with Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Unai Emery has already been busy in the transfer market, bringing in Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus and Ross Barkley from Luton Town as Douglas Luiz left for Juventus.
