The incident occurred during a match against India on Sunday
Australia’s one day captain Aaron Finch was forced to dismiss accusations that his teammate had tampered with the ball during a Cricket World Cup group match against India at the Oval on Sunday.
The accusation centred around the actions of spin bowler Adam Zampa, who was accused of tampering with the ball after being spotted pulling what appeared to be a white object out his pocket before bowling.

In response to the accusations, which gathered particular pace on social media, Finch stated that Zampa simply carries hand warmers in his pockets while playing.
“I haven’t seen the photos, but I know that he has hand warmers in his pocket,” said Finch after the game.
“He has them every single game he plays. I honestly haven’t seen them, so I can’t comment too much on it. But I know for a fact that he has hand warmers every game.”

The incident comes more than a year after Cameron Bancroft received a nine-month ban by Cricket Australia for rubbing sandpaper against a ball during a Test match against South Africa.
Steve Smith and David Warner, both of whom admitted to overseeing the ball tampering, received one-year bans for their part in the controversy. Smith was also banned from all leadership roles for an additional year, while Warner received a permanent ban from all leadership roles within the Cricket Australia set up.
