Not this again…
Bayern Munich have renewed their interest in Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to reports from Sky Germany.
The Chelsea winger made a big impact off the bench for the Blues at the weekend, helping them to come back from a 3-0 deficit to steal a point against West Brom, scoring a goal courtesy of a delightful one-two with new signing Kai Havertz.
Bayern first expressed interest in the player in January 2019, but Chelsea refused to sell one of their most valuable, young assets. An achilles injury sustained in August that year put Hudson-Odoi out of action for a lengthy spell and Bayern’s interest simmered.
But following his return to action, the German champions are keen to add him to their machine of world domination.
It’s easy to forget Hudson-Odoi is still only 19, having broken into the Chelsea first team during Maurizio Sarri’s only season in charge two years ago. Still in the infancy of his career, he is weighing up his options and Sky Germany claim he believes a move to Bavaria will help his development as a player.
He would face tough competition for minutes at both Chelsea and Bayern, with Chelsea’s summer recruits leapfrogging him in the pecking order, and Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry nailing down their starting spots at the Allianz Arena.
However, with Ivan Perisic returning to Inter Milan after his loan spell and Kingsley Coman’s unfortunate record with injuries, there is room for another winger in Hansi Flick’s squad. Whether Chelsea will allow Hudson-Odoi to leave is another matter.
