Bayern Munich are willing to let Thiago Alcantara leave the club this summer for a fee of €30 million, according to German sports newspaper Bild.
Thiago has been a constant presence in Bayern’s midfield for the past six years, all of which have ended with a Bundesliga title, but is likely to move on this summer with just one year left on his contract.
Liverpool’s interest in the Spaniard has been widely reported, as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to build on their first ever Premier League title by improving the squad in maybe the only way possible: adding creativity to the midfield.
Thiago would offer something different to Liverpool’s other midfielders, whose role focuses more on pressing off the ball and getting the ball to the full-backs in possession, rather than looking for assists themselves. His creativity would provide the spark that Naby Keita has struggled to provide since his move from RB Leipzig.
The President of the Board of Directors at Bayern, Karlheinz Rummenigge, has recently said that everything points towards Thiago taking on a new challenge after more than half a decade in Bavaria.
Other Bayern players whose contract renewal is in doubt including Corentin Tolisso and David Alaba could also leave this summer, if more signings like that of Leroy Sané from Manchester City do not come in to refresh the squad.
