Bernardo Silva calls out “pathetic” Liverpool fans in tweet

It’s not been a great last 18 hours for Manchester City players

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side were knocked out of the Champions League by Olympique Lyonnais by a score of 3-1 on Saturday night.

No one had expected France’s seventh best side to defeat City’s expensively assembled squad of superstars, but they did, and as always happens in these scenarios, a number of City’s player had the piss taken out of them on Twitter.

Unsurprisingly due to the rivalry between City and Premier League champions Liverpool, many of the people slagging off City players were Reds fans.

Well, City winger Bernardo Silva on Sunday decided he’d had enough, and sent a tweet essentially telling them all to get a life.

He said: And to all Liverpool fans that have nothing else to do than to come to a Man City player account, I’m also sorry for you but for the wrong reasons… pathetic… go celebrate your titles, or try to find a partner, drink a beer with a friend, read a book… so many options!”

This tweet was the follow up to a much more, well, normal one, in which he thanked City fans for their support during a difficult season, saying: “The 2019/2020 season has ended for us in a very disappointing way. To all the fans, we’re sorry for this frustrating season. The only thing we can promise is that in 2020/2021 we’ll fight a lot to do much better and get back to winning important things for you guys!”
