Deontay Wilder wasn’t expecting a relaxing weekend in Belfast but even he must be surprised by the amount of drama he’s found himself immersed in.
On Friday, Wilder crashed the weigh-ins for Tyson Fury’s Windsor Park clash with Francesco Pianeta and ended up in a shouting match with Fury’s father, John.
Shortly afterwards the WBC heavyweight champion exchanged words with ‘The Gypsy King’ himself in the hotel lobby while surrounded by fans.
But the most bizarre incident of all took place that night, when Wilder and his crew thought they’d treat themselves to some downtime at a local Nando’s restaurant.
Unfortunately for ‘The Bronze Bomber’, however, WBO middleweight champ Billy Joe Saunders just so happened to be dining at the same establishment.
Saunders, who is a close friend of Fury’s, is not one to pass up the opportunity to wind someone up and, apparently, he threw half a chicken at Wilder.
🐔 Cannot believe what I'm reading. Video of Deontay Wilder (in the red) chasing Billy Joe Saunders (grey and black camo shirt) out of Nando's Belfast tonight after Saunders is said to have thrown chicken at him?!

The above footage shows Saunders and a friend being chased out the door by a member of Wilder’s entourage and it’s not known what happened outside the restaurant.
Wilder is expected to defend his world title against Fury later this year, presuming that the undefeated Brit comes through Saturday night unscathed.
If Peri-Peri is being chucked about now, we can’t wait to see what the build-up to the fight brings.
