The wait is over
Few phrases in the English language will raise the heart-rate of any self-respecting football hipster quite like ‘new Boca Juniors shirt’. If that’s you – and let’s face it, you’re already here reading this, so it probably is – then we have good news.
After the release of their all-new Adidas home and away shirts in January (we’re still salivating over that away shirt, by the way), the South American club are on the brink of releasing a special edition third shirt, inspired by their Bombonera stadium.
It’s been 80 years since Boca played their first game at the iconic Buenos Aires ground, and the club have been teasing since May that a shirt to commemorate the anniversary was in the works.

Months later, and after it was leaked on Twitter a couple of times, the shirt is now available to buy on the club’s online store.
Predominantly the same golden yellow which makes up the horizontal bar across the front of their distinctive home shirt, it is finished with a blue trim around its collar and sleeves.
A blue print pattern running down the side of the shirt beneath the sleeves appears to depict the famous old stadium’s seating. It also features a special patch (see below) as a nod to the anniversary, as well as Boca’s la mitad más uno slogan in blue print just below the back of the collar.
All in all, very nice stuff. Even if PSG’s new Jordan offering probably edges the battle of the newly released third shirts.
