Dortmund were denied a first-half equaliser at the Etihad
Borussia Dortmund were infuriated when what appeared a perfectly legitimate equaliser in their Champions League tie against Manchester City was ruled out.
Trailing to a Kevin De Bruyne opener at the Etihad, the German club looked poised to net an equaliser when Jude Bellingham pounced to take the ball off Ederson shortly before half-time.
But as the former Birmingham youngster ran clear through on the empty goal, Ovidiu Haţegan blew his whistle for a foul.

Replays showed Bellingham, who was also booked for the incident, had won the ball cleanly, but the referee’s decision to blow for the free-kick before the ball had crossed the line meant VAR could not be consulted to rule for a Dortmund goal.
Several of Dortmund’s players protested, with Edin Terzić and his coaching staff clearly incensed by the decision on the sidelines.
