Dortmund face Tottenham at Wembley on Wednesday
Borussia Dortmund’s flight to London for their Champions League encounter with Tottenham was delayed because Jadon Sancho forgot his passport.
According to the BBC, the 18-year-old England international realised he had left it at home when he arrived at the airport, causing the Bundesliga leaders to leave Germany later than had been scheduled.
Sancho, who left Manchester City in 2017, has established himself as a key player for Dortmund this season, scoring eight times for Lucien Favre’s side.
He was on target again at the weekend in the 3-3 draw at home to Hoffenheim. Having opened the scoring after half an hour, further goals from Mario Götze and Raphaël Guerreiro put Dortmund into a 3-0 lead, only for the visitors to mount an unexpected comeback in the final 15 minutes.
This, coupled with a 3-1 win for Bayern Munich against Schalke, saw Dortmund’s lead at the top of the German flight cut down to five points.
For Sancho, the game at Wembley on Wednesday will be the first senior club match he’s played in London, the city in which he was born and raised.
After the first leg, Spurs, who were one of several clubs trying to sign Sancho before he moved to Germany, will play the return on March 5.
