BREAKING: Champions League draw throws up tricky games for English clubs in group stage

Some tough games here...

JOE

All four English teams have learned their opponents for the Champions League group stage, following the draw in Monaco.

As usual, some of the teams face more of a challenge to make it to the knock-out stages than others.

FC Bayern Muenchen v Chelsea FC - UEFA Champions League Final

Chelsea

If Jose Mourinho wins the European Cup with Chelsea, it will be the third time he has won it following his previous successes with Porto in 2004 and Inter Milan in 2010. The 2012 winners are in Group G and will face Porto, Dynamo Kiev and  Maccabi Tel-Aviv.

The Premier League runners-up will be looking to take their promising start to their domestic campaign into Europe, having failed to impress in the competition in recent years. Having managed to reach the knock-out stages last year Manuel Pellegrini’s men will have to make it out of a group including last year’s finalists, Juventus, Sevilla and Mönchengladbach if they are to reach the knock-out stages again.

Arsenal v Liverpool - Premier League

Arsenal

Having been at the helm for nearly two decades, Arsene Wenger will be aware that there won’t be many chances for him to win the club’s first European Cup. The 2006 finalists have been drawn in Group F with Bayern Munich, Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb.

Manchester United v Chelsea - UEFA Champions League Final

Manchester United

Of the four English teams in it, United are the most successful with three titles to their name. After a one year absence, they successfully booked their place in the group stages thanks to a 7-1 victory over Club Brugge. Their reward is a group containing Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven, CSKA Moscow and Wolfsburg.
