Boxing’s coming home

Anthony Joshua will step back into the ring for the first time in sixth months since on September 22nd. Joshua will defend his World Heavyweight Titles against Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium.

It is a mandatory defence of his WBA title, but his WBA Super, IBF, WBO and IBO Heavyweight World titles will all be on the line.

Joshua’s last fight was against Joseph Parker at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, which ‘AJ’ won via a unanimous decision.

Joshua remains undefeated while Povetkin’s record stands at 34-1. The 38-year-old Russian’s last fight was also back in March, against David Price. Povetkin, nicknamed the ‘White Lion’, has secured 24 of his 34 wins via a knockout.

After this mandatory title defence, Joshua will be free to fight Deontay Wilder, after months of rumours that a fight will be agreed between the pair.

Sale dates and ticket prices for the fight are yet to be confirmed.
