Toney was filmed saying ‘f*** Brentford’
Brentford striker Ivan Toney has apologised after a social media video appeared to show the striker using an expletive in reference to his own team.
Toney – who was on holiday with teammate Bryan Mbeumo in Dubai when the video was recorded – can be seen saying “f*** Brentford”, repeating the phrase used by the woman who was filming.
The Bees stated that they were “aware of the video” and were “investigating”.
The striker has since taken to social media to say sorry to the club’s supporters in a statement released on Saturday morning.

“I am aware of a video of me that was published on social media,” Toney said.
“In it I used language that was unacceptable. The video was cut short and edited but I have to accept the impact this has had and realise I should not have put myself in that position.”
The 25-year-old has scored six goals for Brentford in their Premier League campaign so far, with the club making a bright start to their maiden top-flight season.
However, Thomas Frank’s men have suffered six defeats in their last seven Premier League matches.

In his statement on Twitter, Toney added: “I respect the way you all support the team and I have to say how much I love playing for the club and for you.
“I’ll be back training next week, working hard to score more goals to win us more games for the rest of the season.”
The former Peterborough United frontman was vital in Brentford achieving promotion to the Premier League last season, scoring 33 goals in a spectacular campaign.
Brentford currently sit in 14th position in the Premier League, eight points above the relegation zone, but they have played more matches than the teams below them.
