Brighton game with Everton put back to Sunday but won’t be on TV in the UK

This won't go down well with fans of the clubs

The Premier League returns this week, but the early Sunday kick-off won’t be televised in the United Kingdom.

Brighton and Hove Albion’s match with Everton has been scheduled for the 1:30 start on Sunday so it can be broadcast on television, but viewers in the UK won’t get to see it.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Premier League approached Brighton to move the fixture to Sunday so it could potentially be picked up by an international broadcaster. Indian broadcasters Star Sports bid for the rights to show the game, which will kick-off at 6pm local-time. So, the game will be shown live in India, but not in the UK.

The Championship clash between Derby County and Nottingham Forest, which kicks off at 1:15 on Sunday, will be broadcast live on Sky Sports before the Premier League game between Southampton and Newcastle United at 4pm.

Sunday Premier League fixtures, where one team was involved in Europa League action a few days previous, are often not broadcast in the UK. However, neither side were involved in a game this week because of the international break, and Everton will have a Europa League tie a few days after their trip to the Amex Stadium.

As neither side are in great form so far this season, many neutrals in the UK won’t shed any tears about not getting to see the match. However, it’s tough on the Everton fans travelling to the game, who will have to leave at 6am to make it to Brighton for the early kick-off.
