British fight fan treated to wonderful gesture from Joanna Jedrzejczyk

Fair play to her

Joanna Jedrzejczyk might be the pound-for-pound scariest fighter in the UFC.

Sure, she goofs around a lot when she’s not in fight camp and weighs in at just 115lbs for bouts but, when it comes time to compete, Jedrzejczyk is a terrifying human being.

Her intimidating staredowns have become the stuff of legend and she may well possess the most brutal Muay Thai of any competitor on the UFC roster.

One of her nicknames is ‘Joanna Violence’, for God’s sake. But behind it all, the UFC strawweight champion has a heart of gold.

On Saturday, Jedrzejczyk will defend her title for the sixth time when she shares the Octagon with top contender Rose Namajunas.

The Polish fighter, who is one of only two current champions to have defended their titles on more than three occasions, is in the process of putting the finishing touches to her fight camp and while most mixed martial artists tend to get rather cranky during their weight cuts, Jedrzejczyk appears to be in typically great form.

Before leaving American Top Team to venture to New York City, where UFC 217 will take place, Jedrzejczyk received news of an English fan in desperate need of a pick-me-up.

“So I got a message on Instagram from some girl from England. She asked me to sign a t-shirt for Marcel, who had a pretty bad accident,” Jedrzejczyk said in the first UFC 217 Embedded.

“Now he cannot move and is in a wheelchair. But he’s a big UFC fan. She asked me for my signature but, Marcel, look what is coming. I will send it to you next week!

“Look how many fighters signed this t-shirt only for you. Stay positive because you have amazing people around you. Kisses!”

JJ is certainly one of the good ones!
