Canelo Alvarez appears to be in the shape of his life for his September super-fight against Gennady Golovkin.
On September 18, we will find out who the best middleweight on planet Earth is as Canelo Alvarez takes on Gennady Golovkin for every major belt going. Canelo will put his The Ring Magazine title on the line in the hope of taking the unified WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, and IBO belts from the undefeated knockout monster.
The only man to beat Canelo so far was arguably the greatest to ever grace a ring. Before losing a majority decision to Floyd Mayweather in 2013, the Mexican superstar defeated all 42 professional pugilists he had faced. Since losing to ‘Money’ he has racked up seven straight wins against elite competition.
The two showcased their skills at the recent media day in the Staples Center, home of the Los Angeles Lakers, and aside from the stellar boxing on display, the main takeaway was the condition both warriors were in.
Golovkin is undoubtedly the bigger man of the two, but Canelo appears to have packed on a lot of muscle for what could well be the toughest challenge of his career, aside from the fighting Mayweather when he was just 23 years old.
Canelo looked absolutely shredded putting on a show for the crowd with his pad work and shadow boxing drills.
