Fans were heard singing and jeering during the 60 second silence
Celtic fans booed the minute’s silence for Remembrance Day and launched tennis balls onto the pitch prior to their game against Dundee on Sunday.
Remembrance Day – which takes place on November 11 and commemorates those who died in conflict in Commonwealth countries – is traditionally marked with a minute’s silence by British football clubs.
Whenever a team’s closest home match to the date falls is when the minute’s silence takes place.
However, ahead of Celtic’s clash against Dundee at Dens Park, some of their fans could be heard singing and jeering during the 60 second silence, before others began to boo.
Sky Sports pundit and former Hoops striker Andy Walker – who was commentating on the tie – called it ’embarrassing’.
Commentator Ian Crocker added: “Sadly some people just couldn’t manage it (staying silent for the minute’s remembrance).”

Once the match had began, Celtic fans launched tennis balls onto the pitch as part of an ongoing protest against the club considering the appointment of former police chief Bernard Higgins to an important role within the club.
Crocker labelled it a ‘ridiculous situation’, as Celtic players joined officials in clearing the pitch, with former Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart – who joined the Scottish outfit in August – seen gesturing and asking for calm among the traveling away fans.
It is believed that the decision to throw tennis balls onto the pitch was to symbolise that the ‘ball is in Celtic’s court’ over the potential appointment of Higgins, with fans angered about the former police chief being linked with a position at Celtic Park.
Despite the delay, Ange Postecoglou’s were able to secure an important 4-2 victory over The Dark Blues thanks to goals from Jota and Kyogo Furuhashi.
