It’s difficult to think of a more hardcore rivalry in British sport than the one between Glasgow’s two most popular football clubs.
For the past four years, Celtic have seemed strangely lonely in the Scottish Premier League without Rangers after their oldest rivals were, depending on your point of view, either relegated to the fourth tier of Scottish football or disbanded entirely in 2012.
As such, when a team called Rangers gained promotion back to the SPL on Tuesday night, Celtic fans were out in force to rip the p*ss out of their newest rivals alongside some supporters of other Scottish sides.
Always nice to see smaller clubs achieve milestones. Congratulations Rangers on achieving top flight status for the first time. #Sevco

Congrats to Rangers for being promoted to the Prem for the first time in history. Huge moment for such a new club. https://t.co/YnSm37fiTh

Will fans of Celtic and this new Rangers get on alright in their 1st year in the same division, or still hate each other for other reasons?

Although Sevco Scotland Limited, the owners of Rangers, officially changed their name to Rangers Football Club Limited in July of 2012, not everyone believes they are the same club.

But not everybody understood the dismissive nature among the Celtic supporters…
