All five British teams that have reached this season’s Champions League have learned who they will face in the group stages of this season’s competition.
Arguably the biggest story of the draw is Pep Guardiola’s return to Barcelona. His Manchester City side will face Barcelona in Group C, a group that also contains Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic and Germany’s Borussia Monchengladbach.
Leicester City are in the competition for the first time in their history after their remarkable Premier League success last season. They will be in Group G where they will face 2004 winners, FC Porto, Belgium’s Club Brugge and Copehagen of Denmark in a relatively kind group draw with some appealing destinations for away trips.
Arsene Wenger is yet to win the European Cup with Arsenal, despite reaching the final in 2006. If he is to win it this year, he must first negotiate his way through Group A, which contains French champions, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Basel of Switzerland and Bulgarian club, Ludogorets.
Tottenham return to the competition for the first time in five seasons, having pushed Leicester in last season’s title race. Their reward is a relatively straight-forward group featuring Russian side CSKA Moscow, German club Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco of France.
