Oh, mate
We’ve all been there as a defender.
You’re watching the ball come across the box from a cross and you switch to auto-pilot. You’ve dealt with thousands of these kinds of balls before. It’s run of the mill stuff. As a centre-half, it’s your bread and butter. You relax.
There is probably time to take a touch and find a pass, but it’s four minutes into a big cup tie away at Chelsea. You don’t want to take any chances. Just get rid.
That’s what Fikayo Tomori was probably doing and in fairness, he was in a great position to deal with the potential danger. That is until he relaxed too much and took his eye off the ball.
And then the inevitable happened.
OH NO!
The worst possible moment for Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori who misjudges and slices in to his own net.

Boy does he make a meal of it. As slices go, this, a sort of sidefoot pirouette that sticks the ball into his own net when he was aiming to kick it in the opposite direction, is just about as bad as it gets.
Even worse, it was against his parent club, which is presumably why Maurizio Sarri allowed him to turn out for Derby County in Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie.
It gave Chelsea the lead in a frenetic first half, which saw Derby equalise twice through Jack Marriott before Rams captain Richard Keogh, never one to be outdone in the questionable defending stakes, almost managed to put one past Scott Carson and fire into his own net.
Chelsea had the lead without having a shot on target before Derby came back yet again thanks to a goal from Martyn Waghorn, before Cesc Fabregas scored his first Stamford Bridge goal since August 2017 to put the blues 3-2 up at half-time.
