Chinese Super League line up Wayne Rooney as superstar signing…

JOE

Manchester United may finally have a golden opportunity to get Wayne Rooney off the payroll as the striker is lined up by the Chinese Super League.

Now 30, Rooney has scored just two goals in 11 Premier League appearances this season as his decline continues to frustrate supporters.

United looked much more mobile in attack in the forward’s absence against Watford, but Louis van Gaal is expected to restore Rooney to the starting line-up at the first opportunity.

However, if United were interested in ditching Rooney before his contract expires in three years time, there is apparently a new possibility to explore.

The Chinese Super League, boosted by a new £830m TV deal, is looking for a star name to attract other elite players to the country – and Rooney could be the man in question.

According to The Sun, Rooney’s representatives have already been approached about a potential move to China and they are considering all options ahead of the striker’s last pay day.

We can’t see it happening, but it could be the perfect way for United to save £300,000 a week on a player long past his best.
